I just read in SELF magazine, that in some states a pharmacist can actually refuse to dispense birth control and emergency contriception. What the hell. 1. That is a personal decision a woman makes with her DOCTOR! The pharmacist should have no business in that. 2. Why become a pharmacist if you do not believe in dispensing certain medications? Everyone would be up in arms if a pharmacist refused someone their insulin or heart medication. So why is it ok to refuse a woman her right to birth control and contriception.
Not all women are on birth control to prevent pregnancy. Furthermore, not all women can be on birth control, condoms break, and some women get raped. These women deserve access to emergency contriception.
I'm not completely finished the article. I'm sure I will have more to bitch about when I am done.
On another topic. We are leaving for Maryland tomorrow. I promised myself I would try to overcome some stuff. I am going to try to get on a boat. I avoid ferry boats and other touristy boat rides due to anxiety. I also hardly ever sit outside there, so I am going to try to read outside. Spiders be damned. I don't think I can get on a bike yet. I am going to try to not go nuts at night. It is so hard for me to sleep there because it is SOOOOO quiet. I am used to sleeping in Delco next to major roadways and train tracks. So in MD, I end up staying up, checking locks, playing on the computer, etc. until all hours.
And most importantly, THE SIMPSONS 6Th SEASON IS BEING RELEASED ON TUESDAY!!!. We are going to have to drive a ways to find a store there where I can buy it. Where they live in MD is not near a lot of stores like here in Delco, where you can pretty much get anything with a 5 minute walk or drive.

None of this 'really' has anything to do with reproduction. It's about establishing an authoritarian society. Both the Protestant Jesus freaks and the Catholic Church would like to establish an authoritarian theocracy in which women do not have all their civil rights as you or I might understand them. For the moment these Protestant and Catholic thugs are working together, which is sort of creepy. But it's not about the baby, it's about the authority over women. That is why the freaks show so little interest in already born babies.

as far as the pharamacist stuff goes, my friends and i were talking about this last week at a bar. i share your outrage! my one friend was saying that when/if women loose their control over when they become pregnant, then that would be the end of women in the work force. who would want to hire a woman that could have to miss up to 9 months of work at any time? i think its a little extreme POV, but it seems to be a real possibility. yuck.
